Argus Trent Obituary

Argus Trent, 80 of Wharncliffe, WV departed this life Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Hubbard Hospice House West at Thomas Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born December 19, 1943 at Gilbert Creek, he was the loving son of the late Fleming and Florence (Sis) Cline Trent. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Kenny Coleman and brother Lee James Trent.

Argus was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to many. Argus was a member of the U.M.W.A., he was also a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association, also of the Full Gospel Church of God of Baisden. He loved going coon hunting, riding 4-wheelers with family, raising cattle, going to Tractor Supply, raising peacocks and spending time with family and friends.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 62 years: Liza (Cline) Trent of Wharncliffe, WV; his 4 daughters: Pam (Matthew) De Sliva of Benson, NC, Rose Coleman of Chapmanville, WV, Merronda (Tim) Harvell of Willow Springs, NC, Vickie (Tim) Brown of Benson, NC. Honorary son David Cantrell of Wharncliffe, WV. Very Special friend Troy New of Gilbert Creek, WV. Grandchildren: Ashley (Chris) Strunk of Chapmanville, WV, Christopher(Ellen) Laney of Dunn, NC, Krystal Clark and companion Wesley Wilson of Angier, NC, Amber (Junior) Bradshaw of Ft. Liberty, NC, Steven (Kayla) Brown of Four Oaks, NC, Justin Cline and companion Heather Gibbs of Benson, NC, Jacob De Silva and companion Makayla Autry of Willow Springs, NC, Kara Brown and companion Mason Barraza of Tarboro, NC. Great-grandchildren: Takoda, Khileigh, Makenzie, Cole, Adelyn, Bane, Weston, Anna Grace, John Allen, Kasen, and Knox. Brother: Jessie (Linda) Trent of Verner, WV, Rev. Jonas (Erma) Trent of Baisden, WV, Clifford (Kaye) Trent of Baisden, Herman (Teresa) Trent of Baisden, Elmer (Dorothy) Trent of Chicago, IL. Sister: Ella (June Bug) Smith Baisden, WV. The family would like to extend special thanks to his doctor Chris Tipton. Argus also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Friday November 15, 2024, from 6 to 9 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel where funeral services will commence on Saturday November 16, 2024 at 11 am with Rev. Danny Ward, Rev. Jonas Trent, and Rev. Ralphy Manuel officiating.

Entombment will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.

Argus will be carried to his final resting place by pallbearers: Christopher Laney, Steven Brown, Junior Bradshaw, Chris Strunk, Justin Cline, Takoda Strunk, Jacob De Silva, and Mason Barraza. Honorary pallbearers are David Cantrell, Troy New, Bobby New, Teddy New, Toge Johnson, and Gerald Compton.

Argus was a hardworking man with a gentle heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
