Bennie Arvil Belcher

Bennie Arvil Belcher, 86, of Gilbert departed this life on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV.  Born September 22, 1937 in Mingo County, WV, he was the son of the late Alfred and Martha Mae (Browning) Belcher. 

In addition to his parents, Bennie is also preceded in death by his son: John Paul Belcher; sisters: Mabel Smith, Mina Ferguson; and brothers: Luther “Buddy” Belcher and Bobby Belcher. 

Bennie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, uncle, and friend.  He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and loved his family deeply.  He loved attending church at the Ben Creek Free Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America. 

Those left to love and cherish Bennie’s memory, and mourn his passing are his loving wife of 62 years: Sandra (Goad) Belcher of the home; his children: Benny A. Belcher Jr., Bobbie Leigh Belcher, Gregory Scott Belcher, Donald Ken (Joni) Belcher, Alfred Odell (Glenna) Belcher, and Joseph Wayne Belcher; grandchildren: Natasha McGraw (Matt Carter), Justin (Alli) Bradford, Brandon (Christina) Gibson, Corey (Keasha) Belcher, Ashley (Jon) Gibson, Savannah Belcher (Travis Salmons), Tiffany Belcher, Rachel Belcher, Trevor Belcher, Alee Belcher, Peyton Belcher, Jonda Belcher; great grandchildren: Cody Carter (Summer Bragg), Haley New (Chase Burnette), Farrah Bradford, Carter Bradford, Olivia Gibson, Oaklyn Salmons, Adam Gibson, Lydia Gibson; great great grandchildren: Matti and Presley Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.  

Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 6-9 PM at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, with special services at 7 PM. Funeral services will commence Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 1 PM with Pastor Denny May and Pastor Ravin Kenneda officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery, Browning Fork, Gilbert, WV.

Bennie will be carried to his final resting place by pallbearers: Justin Bradford, Corey Belcher, Trevor Belcher, Peyton Belcher, Brandon Hatfield, and Brandon Gibson.  Honorary pallbearers are: Matt Carter, David Carter, Rick Mounts, Diamond Carter, Chase Burnette, and Cody Carter.  His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by those who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
