Bertha Marie (Asbury) Walls

Bertha Marie Walls, 98 of Gilbert, WV departed this life Friday, December 20, 2024.  Born September 4, 1926, in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Millie Emalina (Farmer) Asbury.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harley Walls; son: Larry Keith Walls; sisters: Mary Wadosky, Virginia Pennington, and Juanita Ross; brothers: Coy, Walter, Author, Henry, and Bill Asbury; son-in-law: Gary Cline; grandsons: Buren Maynor, Jr., and Gary Gwen Cline.

Bertha enjoyed planting flowers, shopping, gardening, and doing word puzzle books, but her greatest love was attending church and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a member of the Leatherwood Community Church.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her children: Donna Marie Cline of Gilbert Creek, WV Linda (Buren) Maynor of Verner, WV, Diana (Farley) Blankenship of Cox Mills, WV, Joseph Harley Walls, Jr., and Kenneth Walls, both of Gilbert, WV, Eddie (Ashley) Walls of Hanover, WV; sister: Ruth Dunn of Englewood, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; special caregiver: Melissa Poe; her fur baby: Leia.  She also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, December 27, 2024, from 12:00 till 1:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jarvis Walls officiating.  Burial will follow in the Skyline Cemetery at Justice, WV.

Bertha will be carried to her resting place by pallbearers: Joseph Harley, Jr., Eddie, and Kenneth Walls, Charlie and James Allen McNeely, Chad McDaniel.  Honorary pallbearers are Buren Maynor, Tony Compton, Farley Blankenship, and Eric Cline.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
