Betty Lou Dotson Obituary

Betty Lou “Sissy Betty” Dotson of Wharncliffe, WV, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday, May 17, 2024. She was surrounded by family, the love of her life, and covered in the prayers of all who knew and loved her. God knew her heart, heard all the prayers, delivered her from her illness, and the angels rejoiced as she arrived to receive all the heavenly rewards she earned over her lifetime.

For 75 wonderful years, she spent her lifetime spreading love and joy to everyone around her. Most importantly, she was a devout follower of Christ and witnessed to countless people she encountered. Her faith guided and shaped everything in her life. A light to all, she touched countless lives through the love and guidance she continually offered. Of all her many Earthly accomplishments, she was most proud of her family and the loving bond they shared. She cherished attending church, fellowship with her church family, family gatherings, trips to the campground, and was always eager to join in any adventure someone had planned. For many, her home was a home away from home, offering a place of love, security and where lifetime memories were made. Betty had a unique ability to find joy and happiness in any situation, appreciating the beauty in the simplest things and treasuring what truly mattered in life.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Wholeheartedly, Betty embraced each role with genuine love and dedication. She was a mother figure to many children during her time as a 4-H leader and through her involvement in the church and community. She was a pillar of support to many, and her prayers brought comfort and hope to those in need. Her bright light illuminated the lives of those around her, and though the world may seem darker without her, the love she left behind will be felt for generations.

Betty was greeted in Heaven by her loved ones who went before her: her parents, Viola, and Thomas Grover Cohenour; father and mother-in-law, Hiram, and Nell Dotson; her brothers, Charles and Mark Cohenour; sisters-in-law, Easter Sparks and Phyllis Trammel; and brothers-in-law, Ruben Dotson, Gary Dotson, Harold New, and Earl Dotson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 58 years, Harry G. Dotson; her son, Harry Glenn (Debrina) Dotson Jr. of Wharncliffe; and her daughter, Tina (Cleatis) Cline of Wharncliffe/Baisden, WV. She is also survived by her grandson, Dalton Dotson of Logan, WV; granddaughters, Destiny Dotson of Matewan, WV, and Layla Dotson of Greenville,TN; Alyssa Fraser of Huntington, WV; Kirstin Selbee of Haymarket,VA; great-grandson, Grayson Dotson; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Selbee ; and two special bonus grandchildren, Bentlee and Isabella Cline of Wharncliffe, WV.
