Billy Leon Walker Jr.

Billy Leon Walker Jr. 60, of Hanover, WV departed this life Saturday, November 8, 2025, from Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan, WV. 

 
Born August 10, 1965, in McDowell County, WV, he was the son of the late Billy Walker Sr. and Dorothy Marie (Lester) Walker. 

 
In addition to his parents, Leon is preceded in death by his son: Dewayne Stafford, his maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents. 

 
Leon loved logging and operating equipment, but his passion was fishing.  He was happiest when he was sitting on the side of the water chasing his next catch.  He cherished every moment spent with his family and was known for his easygoing nature and sense of humor. Leon always had a smile on his face, a can of Mountain Dew in one hand, and a cigarette in the other.  

 
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 40 years: Bernice (Stafford) Walker of the home; daughter: Shianna (John) Cook of Hanover; one brother: Jeff (Kim) Walker also of Hanover; six grandchildren: Shanille, Kaley, Jeremiah, Jace, Alexander and Blaine; niece: BJ (Josh) Patrick of Baileysville; nephew: Jeffrey (Danielle) Walker of Hanover, and special friend Homer (Helen) Hatfield.

Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, WV for visitation, with funeral services to commence at 1:00 pm with Pastor Gary Browning & Pastor Terry Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the Browning-Dye Cemetery at Verner, WV.  Leon will be carried to his resting place by family and friends.  

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
