Blonnie Carter

Blonnie Carter, 83 of Gilbert, departed this life on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from her residence surrounded by her family.

Born January 18, 1935 at Baisden, WV she was the daughter of the late Alfred & Sarah (Browning) Blankenship of Baisden.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters: Bertha Cline, Violet Griffith, Vicie Morgan, and Janice Blankenship; four brothers: Ron, Linford, Irvin and Reaford Blankenship.

Blonnie was a member of the Horsepen Southern Baptist Church and a retired director of the Economic Opportunity Commission and a Mingo County Bus Driver.  She was an upstanding member of her community and church, a caring mother and a loving wife.  For many years she provided care and love to the senior citizens of her local community.  Blonnie enjoyed annual travels with her husband Teddy, his brother Ira and her favorite sister-in-law Anna Carter, where they enjoyed fishing on South Padre Island as winter Texans for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She made many memories near the ocean with her family as she enjoyed shelling and collecting shells from all over.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Blonnie and to mourn her passing include her loving husband Teddy Carter of Gilbert; her children: Dr. Teresa Anne Carter-Willey & James Willey of Marysville, Ca, Randy & Teresa Carter, David & Vivian Carter, Melissa Kirk all of Gilbert, Kim & Randy Gobel of Hanover; grandchildren: Jamey (Angela) Carter, Natasha Carter, Justin Carter, Brittani Kirk, Whittani Kirk, Terrance R. Carter and Kaiden Kirk; great grandchildren: Gavin Carter, Hunter Carter, Mason Smith, Levi Smith and Easton Carter; two sisters: Amy Cline of Gilbert and Bonnie Huff-Caudill of Carroll, OH; brother: Royal Blankenship of Baisden; many nieces and nephews and a host of other dear family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Horsepen Southern Baptist Church from 6-9 pm.  Funeral services will commence on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Brian Warden officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hollywood Cemetery at Gilbert, WV.

Blonnie will be carried to her final resting place by Jamey Carter, Steven Carter, Justin Carter, Patrick Cline, Steven Cline, Daniel Hauser, Randy Gobel and Joshua Muncy.

Honorary pallbearers include: Ralph Trent, Johnny Cline, Glen Fields, Martin Kirk, James W. Willey, David and Randy Carter.
