Bonnie Lou (Hughes) Lester

Bonnie Lou Hughes Lester, 69 of Gilbert, WV received her heavenly promotion on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from the comforts of her home, surrounded by her family.

Born June 7, 1949 at Ben Creek, she was the daughter of the late Bruce & Lovis Cline Hughes.

In addition to her parents, she was welcomed into Heaven by her sisters Donna Hamilton, Palma Morgan, Jaquetta Hughes and Melissa Hughes; one brother, Michael Hughes and one unborn grandchild.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, the love of her life of 48 years, Arthur Mack Lester. Her loving son, Mack Todd (Adrianne) Lester: her daughter & best friend, Missy Dawn (Brad) Birchfield. Granddaughters, Tianna Paige Lester, Morgan Hearns, Marleigh Birchfield, her sunshine Sophie Dawn Birchfield and coming in May 2019, Ella Grace Birchfield; one sister, Susan Michelle Hughes Jewell; One special uncle, Clifford Cline and two very special sisters in law, Winnie Dingess and Wanda Noe and a host of family and friends.

Bonnie enjoyed being with her family, activities with her granddaughter Sophie and was always looking for a way to help others. She was involved in the community where she served as recorder for the town of Gilbert in the 80s. Bonnie & Mack owned & operated several businesses together throughout their marriage including the Gilbert Arcade, Creative T- Shirts and M & J Auto Parts in Gilbert for 20 years. They loved racing and constructed the first local dirt track, Hatfield – McCoy Speedway at Hanover. Her love of cooking and feeding others led her to open T’s Drive In. She would often set up in town on special occasions selling her locally loved hotdogs & donate money to those in need. She devoted her life to God and served Him along with her church family at Eagle Sanctuary, where her service, especially the work in the kitchen, will be greatly missed. Bonnie was one of a kind.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, January 11, 2019 from 6 to 9 pm at Eagle Sanctuary, Christian, WV., where funeral services will commence on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Bishop Anthony Hudgins officiating.  Burial will follow at Justice Memorial Gardens, Justice, WV.

Pallbearers will be Dave Lester, Joey Lester, Jimmy Dingess, Michael DeFabbo, Michael Hamilton, Todd Lester, Brad Birchfield and Gideon Noe.

Honorary pallbearers are Clifford Cline, Joe Lester, Clyde Lester, Vinton Hamilton and Marty Fortner.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
