Carl Curtis Harper

Carl Curtis Harper, age 84, of Coal Mountain, departed this life Monday, September 1, 2025, at LRMC, Logan, WV.  

Born January 14, 1941, at Coal Mountain WV, he was the son of the late William and Nancy (Hatfield) Harper.  

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his daughter: Denise (Shelley) Michelle Harper; his brothers: Johnny (Junior), Ben, and Amos Harper; sisters: Thelma, Jean, Emiline and Sadie.  

Carl was a member of the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church where he attended and loved spending time with his church family. He enjoyed watching western movies and keeping up with the latest news. In his earlier years he was an avid outdoors man. He loved digging ginseng, gardening and squirrel hunting. 

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years Patty (Cline) Harper; his brothers Lonnie and Clarence Harper; his sisters Betty and Phoebe and husband Dale; his daughters: Lelia Tanner and Lisa and husband Jesse Toler; his sons: Carl, Josh, William (Bill) and wife Belvia, Larry and wife Allison, Eric; his step grandson: Aaron. He leaves behind a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other dear friends and family.   

 Friends may gather with the family Saturday, September 6, 2025, after 6:00 pm at the Coal Mountain Freewill Baptist Church where funeral services will commence on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Roger Browning and Rev. James Ellis officiating.  Burial will follow in the Coal Mountain Community Cemetery at Coal Mountain, WV.  

Curtis will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends. 

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
