Carlos Lee Mounts, 79 of Baisden, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from his residence.
Born September 12, 1944 at Baisden, He was the son of the late Oscar and Opal (Poffenburger) Mounts.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers: Roger Lee and Roy Tony Mounts; sister: Brenda Kay Mounts; nephews: Oscar Levoid and Roger Dale Powers.
Carlos was a retired Surface Miner. He was affiliated with the Ben Creek Free Pentecostal Holiness Church. He loved his Antique Cars and taking them to car shows, watching NFL Football games, watching, and going to Nascar races, putting model cars together, going to flea markets; and especially, his cats.
Carlos was also a US Army Veteran. He served 2 years in Vietnam. He served in the Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve. He was awarded with the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Badge, Expert Badge, 1 Oversea Bar, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, and Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Ribbon.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his son: William “Billy” (Phoebe) Mounts of Varney, WV; daughter: April (Chris) Salmons of Justice, WV; grandchildren: Tiffany Collins of Charleston, WV, Kenny Lee (Rita) Mounts, William “Little Bill” Mounts, all of Gilbert, WV, Cameron (McKenzie) Lester and Chandler Lester, all of Baisden, WV; great grandchild: Brantley Gage Lester of Baisden, WV; brother: Ronnie (Debbie) Mounts of Baisden, WV; sisters: Barbara Currier and companion David Rosebush of Bristol, TN, and Linda Strickland of Bristol, VA; nephews: Terry and Tracy Brumfield, both of Bristol, VA, and Brian Mounts of Baisden, WV; niece: Michelle (Walden) Hatfield of Bristol, TN. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 1:00 till 2:00 pm at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Pastor Denny May officiating. Burial will follow in the Mounts Cemetery at Baisden, WV.
Carlos will be carried to his resting place by pallbearers: Cameron and Chandler Lester, Chris Salmons, Kenny Lee, William “Little Bill” and Brian Mounts.
Military Honors will be conducted by Post 1144, Iaeger, WV.
