Charles Wilburn Paynter, 85 of Baisden, WV departed this life on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from Pikeville Medical Center.
Born on May 30, 1937 at Verner, WV he was the son of the late Wirt and Lura (Davidson) Paynter.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sisters: Ruth B. Simpson and Gaynell Stepp; his brothers: Luther “Bud” Paynter and Clayburn Paynter.
Charles had been a member of the Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church at Baisden, WV since October 5, 1974. He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard and a member of the U.M.W.A. Charles loved watching his grandchildren play sports, he also enjoyed fishing and hunting at his mountain cabin, he also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years: Georgia (Cline) Paynter of Baisden, WV; his daughters: Katherine (Terry) Vance of Jacksboro, TN, and Karen (Phil) Cook of Baisden, WV; grandchildren: Candace (Wes) Eddy of Martinsburg, WV, Rebecca (Blake) Keylon of Cookeville, TN, Hunter (Shay) Lester of Indianapolis, IN, Kaden Cook of Baisden, WV; great grandsons: Connor C. Keylon of Cookeville, TN, Brett W. Eddy of Martinsburg, WV. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family on Monday, November 14, 2022 from 6:00 till 9:00 pm at the Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church at Baisden, WV, with services starting at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will commence there at the church on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 11:00 am with Elders Hobert Hamilton, Richard Staten, Freddie Cline, and Gary Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Ritchie Family Cemetery at Baisden, WV.
Charles will be carried to his resting place by pallbearers: Hunter Lester, Kaden Cook, Wes Eddy, Blake Keylon, Terry Vance, Phil Cook, Chris Sparks. Honorary pallbearers are Jerome Cline, Eddie, Doug, and Ivan Paynter.
Military Honors will be performed by DAV Post 1144, Iaeger, WV.
His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
