Charles Monroe Testerman, 89 of North Carolina, formerly of Gilbert, WV passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 surrounded by his loving family members.
Born on April 8, 1934 at War Eagle, WV, he was the son of the late Arthur and Dolly (Lester) Testerman.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving wife: Faye (Sammons) Testerman; son: Charles Matthew Testerman; sisters: Hazel Hatfield, Joyce Compton, Helen and Jean Mounts, and Nell Anderson; brothers: Coy, Carl, Lawrence, and Julian Testerman; grandson: Christopher Macky May; great granddaughter: Autumn Sheppard.
In 1951 Charles joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. He witnessed some amazing historical events. He traveled all over the world and had some great stories. Everyone who knew him and especially our family, thought he knew everything. Everyone would say “Ask Papaw Charlie”. Another thing about our daddy was if you didn’t want to know the truth, then don’t ask him. He has served the Lord for many years as a member of Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his daughters: Myra (Bobbie) Sheppard, Cindy (Paul) Nelson, all of Liberty, NC, Renee (Dwayne) Runyon of Franklinville, NC, Carol (Macky) May of Wirtz, VA; grandchildren: Malina Hubbard (Tim Dameron) of Burlington, NC, Robert (Jessica) Sheppard of Wichita Falls, TX, Angel (Jeffery) Runyon of Ben Creek, WV, Corinne (Brad) Saylor, Aimee Runyon of Franklinville, NC, Tara Beckett of Logan, WV, Philip (Jennifer) May of TN; great grandchildren: Natalie Cantrell (Chris Thorton) of Burlington, NC, Dawson and Daniel Runyon of Ben Creek, WV, Braden Saylor and Braxton Runyon, both of Franklinville, NC, Palin Hubbard of Burlington, NC, Zoe and Winter Rose Sheppard of Wichita Falls, TX, Brittani (Nick) Christian of Justice, WV, Isaiah May of Hampden, WV, Kobi and Dillon May of TN, Dawson Beckett of Logan, WV; great-great grandchildren: Brady and Lincoln Mack Christian, both of Justice, WV. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Thursday, May 11, 2023 after 6:00 pm at the Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church on Gilbert Creek with service at 7:00 pm with Rev. Jim Nagy, to be followed by ministers of the Old Regular Babtist. Funeral services will commence there at the church on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Elders Hobert Hamilton and Iven Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at the Hatfield Cemetery at Hampden, WV.
Charles will be carried to his resting place by pallbearers: Kennie Compton, Tim Dameron, Isaiah, and Philip May, Robert Runyon, Brandon Sammons, Shane Smith, Braden Saylor, Tyler Brown, and Chris Thorton. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Smith, David Smith, Johnny Mounts, Jim Nagy, Tommy, Terry, Scotty, and Drexel Sammons, Brothers Hobert Hamilton, Freddy Cline, and Ivan Blankenship.
His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
