Christine Elizabeth (Browning) Fields

Christine Elizabeth (Browning) Fields, 89, of Gilbert, WV was born on June 17, 1932. She was born at Pie, WV but grew up in Omar before becoming a lifelong resident of Gilbert.  God added one more angel to his roll call on June 10, 2022 after suffering a long illness.

Christine was the daughter of the late Rev. Kemper Joseph Browning and Octavia Blankenship Browning. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Rush Forest Fields; one son: Dallan Fields; one brother: Arnet Browning; and three sisters: Emma Toler, Eunice Bralley, and an infant sister, Janet Browning.

Christine would have celebrated her 90th birthday this week, but God needed another angel before we could celebrate another birthday.  She was an active member of the Gilbert Garden Club, and a member of the Preventacare group, learning to swim at the age of 62.  Christine enjoyed spending her time growing flowers, spending time with family, friends, and her church family at the Missionary Baptist Church of Gilbert.

Christine and Rush were married for 55 years and were the parents of 3 children: Dallan (Paula) Fields of Huntington, Rolland Fields of Gilbert, WV and Reva (Byron) Smith of Gilbert, WV.

They were blessed with 6 grandchildren: Chad Fields of Fowlerville, MI, Erik Fields of Grand Rapids, MI, Dalline (Chad) Adkins of Huntington, Paul (Shawna) Fields of Salt Rock, WV, Ryan Fields of Morgantown, WV, and Kyle Smith of Huntington, WV.  They were also graced with the presence of 4 great grandchildren: Reagan and Ryan Fields of Bath, MI, and Brody and Brynna Fields of Salt Rock, WV.  Christine also leaves behind a special uncle Joe (Geraldine) Blankenship of Gilbert, and many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.  I am sure it is her wish to be reunited with them all in Heaven.

There are several special friends we would like to recognize as caregivers during her time of illness: Rhonda Shepard, Melissa Poe, Teresa Gunnells, Joan Gunnells, and Clinton Lester.  We would also like to recognize Freelan and Alice Blankenship who were always willing to help when needed.

Friends may gather with the family Monday June 13, 2022 from 6 till 9 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel for Visitation.  Funeral Services will commence there on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 1 pm.  Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Gilbert, WV.  Christine will be carried to her resting place by family and friends.
