Clarence Lowell Poe, 76 of Wharncliffe, WV. departed this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from his residence.
He was born on February 16, 1945 in Gilbert, WV, the son of the late William “Bill” and Josephine (Trent) Poe.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by one granddaughter: Maggie Hellems; one great grandson: Landen Wayde; 9 sisters: Kermit Hatfield, Grace Johnson, Alverta Browning, Virginia Browning, Nellie Prater, Hattie Blankenship, Dixie Cook, Florence Hatfield and Pearlie Poe; 3 brothers: Verner Poe, George Cox, Jr. and Billie Poe; beloved brother-in-law: Donald Hagy; son-in-law: Dusty Dotson.
Clarence was a simple man and would say, “I thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, every day for my blessings.” He loved fishing, hunting, playing cards, music, dancing and being with his family. He was a 1963 graduate of Gilbert High School. To know him was to love him.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years: Alice Mae Poe of the home; two daughters: Martha (Danny) Mann, and Kimberly Dotson (AJ Cline); four sons: Keith (Stephanie) Poe, Jeffrey (Ginny) Poe, Glen (Heather) Poe and Steven (Veronica) Poe; seventeen grandchildren: Bradley (Jessica) Chambers, Megan (Kody) Havens, Chelsea Mann, William (Makaeleigh) Poe, Olivia (Aaron) Jackson, Madison Poe, Amelia Poe, Katherine Poe, Sierra Dotson, Kylie Dotson, Jacob Cline Joccelyn Cline, Kacey Poe, Tayler Poe, Cooper Poe, Chaston Poe and Conner Poe; seven great -grandchildren: Addison, Aubree, Arianna, Kacetyn, Austin, Paysen and Brayden; two sisters: Ruby Hagy and Beulah Poe; two brothers: Roger Poe and Don Hatfield. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 11:30 am till 1:00 pm, at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel where services will commence at 1:00 pm with Pastors Jim Nagy, Timer May and Bishop Michael VanNatter officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill, WV.
Clarence will be carried to his final resting place by his grandsons: Bradley, William, Chaston, Conner, Cooper, Jacob, Kody and Aaron. Honorary pallbearer: great grandson, Paysen.
His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
