Connie Jo (Mounts) Smith

Connie Jo (Mounts) Smith passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, in Hanover, WV, at the age of 52.  Born on November 5, 1971, in Man, WV, she was the daughter of Loretta (Hatfield) Mounts and the late Carlos “Pedro” Mounts.

In addition to her father, she is also preceded in death by her biological mother, Elaine Mounts, and brothers Walter “Red” and Billy Mounts.

Connie graduated from Gilbert High School, after which she dedicated many years as a beloved baker at the local IGA/Foodland.  Known for her creative cakes and warm conversations, she brought joy not only to celebrations but also to everyday customers’ lives.  Connie was a child of Faith, deeply committed to her beliefs and found great solace in her religion.

She was a caring and giving person with a heart of gold, and her hobbies included crafting, sewing, crocheting, and painting.  Connie cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought immense joy into her life.

Connie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Denny Smith; sons, Dillon (Kelsey) Smith and Brady (Madisyn) Smith; grandsons, Dawson and Kade; granddaughter, Demi; mother, Loretta Mounts; sister, Bonnie (Ken) Smith; brothers, Mike (Crystal), Dwayne (Crissy), and Harry Dwayne (Holly).  She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 6:00 till 8:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home, Gilbert, WV.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Connie.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
