Danny Ray Abbott

Danny Ray Abbott, 71 of Gilbert, departed this life Tuesday, May 19, 2020 from Pikeville Medical Center.

Born on August 14, 1948 at Gilbert, he was the son of Truby (Mounts) Abbott and the late Nedsel Ray “Dickie” Abbott.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his daughter: Kimberly (Abbott) Horn.

Danny enjoyed fishing and he especially loved spending time with his sons and his grandchildren.  He was a Barber and an Automobile Body Shop Repairman.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his mother: Truby (Mounts) Abbott; his sons: Travis Abbott and Dalton Abbott, all of Tamcliffe, and Danny Abbott, Jr of Man; grandchildren: Melanie Deanna Horn and Edward Allen Horn, both of Vansant, Linzee and Kayden Abbott, both of Man.  He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Saturday, May 23, 2020 from 12 to 1:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Gary Browning and Rev. Richard Robinette officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mounts Family Cemetery at Gilbert.

Danny will be carried to his final resting place by pallbearers Travis and Dalton Abbott, Mike Mitchell, Roger Blankenship, and other special friends.  Honorary pallbearers are Danny Abbott, Jr., and Larry Layne.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
