Dexter Jude, Sr.

Dexter Jude, Sr., 77 of Hanover, WV departed this life Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 15, 1946 at Neds Branch section of Gilbert, WV he was the son of the late Minta (Simpson) and John Jude, Sr.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister: Beulah Jude; brothers: Rex Jude, John Jude Jr, Jack Jude Sr, Roy Jude, Sonny Jude Sr.

Dexter enjoyed hunting and gardening in his younger years.  He loved spending time and playing with his grandchildren and his little dog “Buddy”.  He was of the Old Regular Baptist Faith.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife: Mable Marie (Lefler) Jude of Hanover, WV; son: Dexter Jude Jr. of Red Jacket, WV; daughters: Deborah Ann (Jan Michael) Fortner of Buffalo, WV, Amy Dawn Jude of Hanover, WV; grandsons: Daniel Jonathan Jude of San Mateo, Ca., Staff Sgt. Joshua C. (Elizabeth) Jude of Charleston, SC., Staff Sgt. Michael Grady Fortner of Buffalo, WV; granddaughters: Cadet Jana Mae Fortner of Buffalo, WV, Amanda Marie (his “Punkin”) Fortner of Buffalo, WV, Jeala Nicole Marie (his “Jay Bird”) Jude of Red Jacket, WV; great grandchildren: Benjamin and Chloe Jude of Charleston, SC; sisters: Judy Marie Jude, Martha Jane (Bo) Adkins, Naomi Harrison, all of TN; brothers: Denny Jude of Gilbert, WV, Jesse James Jude, Sr of Logan, WV; sister-in-law: Patty Jude; brothers-in-law: Joe (Valerie) Lefler, Michael (Robbie) Lefler, Chris Lefler; his best friend, his little dog “Buddy”.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Hospice of Southern WV and to Jeff Pritchard of Family Healthcare.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, December 15, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home, where funeral services will commence at 12:00 pm with Rev. Clyde Endicott officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.

Dexter will be carried to his resting place by his grandsons and nephews.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
