Donald "Don" Jackson Walker

Donald (Don) Jackson Walker, 90, of Gilbert, WV, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at his home in Hampden, WV.

Born May 25, 1931 in Logan, WV. he was the son of the late Haley (Adkins) and George Walker of Justice, WV.

Don was preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita Walker of Hampden, WV., and his parents, Haley, and George Walker of Justice, WV.

He is survived by his sister, Lois Ward of Laurelville, Ohio. 2 children, Kathy (David) Ellis of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Sammy (Sherry) Walker of Hanover, WV. 4 grandchildren; Christy (Jim) Beddingfield of Marietta, GA. Wynne Walker of Hanover, WV. Jonathan Walker of Hanover, WV. and Sara (Travis) Bowman of Allen Creek, WV. 5 great grandchildren, James Beddingfield and Jackson Beddingfield of Marietta, GA. Avaleigh Bowman and Olivia Bowman of Allen Creek, WV and Josh Walker of Junction City KS.

Don was an Employee of Island Creek Coal Company for 38 years and a member of the UMWA. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Hanover Missionary Baptist Church. He was a very generous individual and always helped his children as well as others.

His hobbies included camping, boating and fishing. He loved to spend his retirement days with family as well as camping and fishing at Claytor Lake with his close friends. Don was especially crafted with small engine repairs, but excellent in cat fishing.

Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 6:00 till 9:00 pm at the Hanover Missionary Baptist Church, Hanover, WV.  Funeral Services will commence there at the church at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jackie Lester officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Pecks Mill, Chapmanville, WV.

Honorary Pallbearers: Paul Bartram of Hampton, WV, Steve Lowe of Roanoke, VA, Allen Oaks of Marion, VA, Phil Conner and Reed Vanbilliard both of Riner, VA.
