Dorise Eugene Ferguson

Dorise Eugene Ferguson, 85 of Varney, WV departed this life Monday, September 23, 2024, from Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.

Born April 28, 1939, in Gilbert, WV, he was the son of the late Garland and Leona (Harrison) Ferguson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Charles (Virgie) Ferguson and Robert (Ina) Adkins.

Dorise enjoyed hunting, but the main things that he enjoyed most were traveling and playing bluegrass music and singing with his friends. He was a heavy equipment operator, and he attended the First Baptist Church of Varney, WV.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years: Wilma “Joyce” (Dotson) Ferguson of the home; daughter: Stephanie Crawford of St. Pedro, California; son: Rex Ferguson of Texas; sisters: Clarisa (Hubert) Trent of Horsepen, WV and Jean Trent Copley of Wharncliffe, WV; special friends: Rev. David (Brenda) Ferguson, Larry (Bernice) Carter, Gail (Don) Corn, Treva Hatfield.  He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and other dear friends.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, September 27, 2024, from 12:00 till 1:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. David Ferguson, Rev. Dallas Riffe, and Rev. Bill Snodgrass officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ferguson Cemetery at Varney, WV.

Dorise will be carried to his resting place by pallbearers: Zachary Trent, Kirk Jordan, Don Corn, and Joseph Copley.  Honorary pallbearers are: Larry Carter, Denny Dotson, Rev. David Ferguson, and Walt Cline.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
