Douglas Wallie Hatfield, Jr. 65 of Browning Fork, Gilbert, WV, departed this life Monday, June 29, 2020 at his residence.
Born January 18, 1955 at Iaeger, he was the loving son of the late Betty (Hatfield) and Wallie Hatfield, Jr.
In addition to his parents, Doug is also preceded in death by his sister: Patricia Pauline (Hatfield) Kennedy; brother: Gary Lee (Bub) Hatfield; paternal grandparents: Wally and Maude Hatfield; maternal grandparents: Jess and Mary Hatfield; also a host of aunts, uncles, and other family members.
He was a member of the Browning Fork House of Faith Church. Doug loved to hunt, garden, and enjoy the outdoors when he was able to do so. Doug was a retired coal miner, where he had worked with a lot of his friends, who loved playing jokes on each other. He was always laughing and joking with everyone, he never met a stranger.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his loving wife: Cynthia Hatfield, of the home; sons: Kenneth “Wuzzle” (Rebecca) Hatfield of Wharncliffe, Brandon “Po” (Andrea) Hatfield of Browning Fork; grandchildren: Kenneth Dalton Hatfield and Chloe Brooke Hatfield of Wharncliffe, Brody Hatfield of Browning Fork; sister: Tammy (Clayton) Riffe of Hanover; brothers: Larry (Lolita) Hatfield of Mohawk, Donald “Bimbo” Hatfield and Homer Glen Hatfield (Jan Lester); nephew: Josh Hatfield; uncle: Arnold Hatfield, all of Browning Fork. Doug also leaves behind a host of cousins and other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Lowell Smith, Rev. Garfield Hatfield, and his Pastor, Rev. Diamond Carter officiating.
To honor his wishes, he will be cremated after the services, Doug will be buried with his parents in the Carter Cemetery at Browning Fork.
His wonderful smile, gentle heart and laughter will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
