Earl Edman Dotson

Earl Edman Dotson, 82 of Wharncliffe, departed this life Thursday, October 6, 2022 from his residence.

Born on June 24, 1940 at Dotson Hollow, Wharncliffe, WV he was the son of the late Dixie Elizabeth (Hatfield) and Wade Bronson Dotson.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister: Karen (Dotson) Goad; brothers: Eugene and Clifton Dotson.

Earl enjoyed fishing and hunting; he was an avid Gilbert Football fan.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was a retired Coal Miner, and of the Pentecostal Faith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife: Mary Jane (Cohenour) Dotson; daughters: Tara Ann (Jimmy) Wells and Kimberly Lynn (Rodney) Blankenship; sons: Johnny Lee (Marty) Dotson, Anthony Heath (Tammy) Dotson, all of Wharncliffe, and Earl L. (Carmela) Dotson of Baisden; grandchildren: Danah Anne, Sarah Beth, Aaron Heath, Brandon Keith, Candice Marie, Vivian Brett, Ashton Hope, Jonathan “Bub”, Johnna LaRae.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 12:00 till 2:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Mitchell Stevens officiating.  Burial will follow in the Glen Alum Cemetery at Glen Alum, WV.

Earl will be carried to his resting place by Aaron, Brandon, Bub, Brenton, Adam, Danny, Gabriel, and Isaac.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
