Edward Ellis Obituary

Edward Lee Ellis, 62, of Davin, departed this life from CAMC Memorial Hospital to receive eternal life in Heaven on Friday, September 21, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born February 2, 1956, at Man, he was the son of the late William Cal and Minnie Ellis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Ulysses Grant “Chittle” Ellis, Richard Lee Ellis, and William Clinton Ellis; and two sisters: Linda Mae Ellis and Janice Marie Hall.

Eddie was a loving son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He had worked as a custodian at Man ARH for 25 years and Logan Regional Medical Center. Several years in between his job as a custodian at Logan, he had also worked as a warehouse technician at Electric Motor Service in Logan. He returned to Logan Regional in 2014 until he retired on March 9, 2018.

Outgoing and charismatic, Eddie loved to talk, and he never met a stranger. He was affectionately known as “the life of the party” because he always brought his humor to family and social events. He had a love for making people laugh and never failed to bring a smile to those who met him. Eddie was a devout Christian and loved singing in church. He also sang with his family in their gospel group, “The Hall Family” for many years. One of his greatest joys, aside from serving the Lord, was being a father to his son, Noah.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and mourn his passing include his loving wife, Lahoma S. Ellis of Davin; his beloved son, of whom he was very proud, Noah Edward Ellis of Kistler; his stepdaughter, Molly Meade of Tampa, FL; two sisters: Arlene (Buddy) Estep of Martin, KY., and Parthena Copley of South Williamson, KY; special nieces and nephews, whom he considered siblings: Diana (Duck) Davis of Davin, Susie Hall of Mallory, Johnny (Carla) Hall of Man, David (Sabrina) Hall and Ronald (Denise) Hall all of Greenville, and Jamie (Mallorie) Hall of Mallory; his ex-wife and mother of his child, Pam Bare of Kistler. Eddie also leaves behind many other nieces and nephews along with a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the Greenville Freewill Baptist Church from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will commence on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 1:00 pm at the church with Rev. Baxter Toler and Rev. Donald Lafferty officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Eddie’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.

His humble heart and gentle spirit will never be forgotten.
