Elbert Edward Berry, 66, of Wharncliffe passed away on December 7th, 2020 at King’s Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, KY.
“Ed” was born on April 6th, 1954 in Mingo County, WV and was the son of the late Elbert and Janice (Johnson) Berry-Bradford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Phillip Berry, Preston Berry, Larry Bradford, and Marvin Bradford; and sister-in-law: Cindy Berry; nephew: Allen Hinkle; and niece Nessa Marsh.
Ed was also known as the “Road Dawg” by many of his friends. He loved to travel all over the country and often did by simply hitchhiking his way to locations as far away as California and Texas. He enjoyed writing beautiful letters to his family back home during his adventures, and could find a free meal and a ride anywhere he went.
Those left to mourn his loss are his son: Jeff Berry; four sisters: Barbara (Raymond) Ellis, Wilma (Thruman) Hinkle, Eileen Johnson all of Wharncliffe, and Missy Patrick of Beckley; three brothers: Jerry Berry of Wharncliffe, Alford Berry of Varney, and Michael Berry of Baisden. Ed also leaves behind 5 grand kids.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, December 14, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Danny Ward officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery at Wharncliffe, WV.
Ed will be carried to his resting place by friends and family.
