Elma Brown 91, of Browning Fork section of Gilbert, WV departed this life Saturday, May 15, 2021 from her residence.
Born on April 6, 1930 at Gilbert, she was the daughter of the late Kelly and Ettie (Harrison) Hatfield.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband: Chester Brown, Sr; sons: Rex (Rosemary) Brown, Steve H. Brown; daughter: Lorna Sue Baker; grandson: Jeremy Keith Brown; sisters: Martha Smith, Gracie Bryant, and Maxine Cline; brothers: Ralph Hatfield and Roby Hatfield.
Elma enjoyed quilting and fishing, but her greatest love was attending church when she was able to go. She was a member of the Browning Fork House of Faith.
Those left to love and cherish her memory are her daughters: Lola (Oscar) Keen and Kristy Brown (James Ball); sons: Roland (Sandy) Brown, Lonnie (Sonja) Brown, Chester (Melanie) Brown, Jr., and Aaron Brown, all of Gilbert, and Darrin Brown of Matewan; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; sister: Barbara Mounts of Gilbert; brother: Herbert (Sue) Hatfield of Huntington; daughter-in-law: Glenna Brown of Alexandria, Ohio. Elma leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 1:00 till 2:00 pm in the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Rev. Lowell Smith and Rev. Diamond Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Family Cemetery at Browning Fork, Gilbert, WV
Elma will be carried to her resting place by her family and friends.
Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
