Emmitt Gene (Jr.) Jeffrey

Emmitt Gene Jeffrey, Jr., 71 of Gilbert, departed this life Friday, January 1, 2021 from CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.

Born April 8, 1949 in Logan, WV he was the son of the late Mildred Louise (Hatfield) and Emmitt Gene Jeffrey, Sr.

Emmitt was a retired Coal Miner of 29 years, a member of the Iaeger Masonic Lodge # 148 A.F. & A.M. also a member of the U.M.W.A.  He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps, where he had served over a year of duty in Vietnam. He was proud of his service for his country.

Emmitt enjoyed hunting trips with his buddies.  He loved fishing and being outdoors.  He always read his morning paper and worked the crossword puzzle each day.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He was a 1966 graduate of Gilbert High School, he also attended Marshall University, Bluefield State and Concord College.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his wife of 27 years: Jacklyn Pack Jeffrey of Hampden; daughters: Olivia Moore of St. Albans, WV., Tara Cline of Pamphlin, VA., Jodi (Danny) Arthur of Hurricane, WV; granddaughters: Jeana, Emilee and Emma; grandson: Connor; two great grandsons: Grayson and Mason; brother: Jerry Ray (Brenda) Jeffrey of Chesapeake, Ohio.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Friday, January 8, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Clifford Rawls officiating.

Burial will follow in the Donel C. Kinnard State Veterans Cemetery at Dunbar, WV, at 2:30 pm.

Emmitt will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart, especially his sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
