Eric Ance Laney

Eric Ance Laney, 73 of Van, WV departed this life Friday, March 19, 2021 from Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Born December 6, 1947 at Mohawk, WV he was the son of the late Ance Testerman Laney and Mabel (Perdue) Laney Coppack.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by an infant daughter: Cynthia Dawn Laney; brother: Jackson Laney; sisters: Nadine Icenhour and Martha Browning.

Eric was a retired Coal Miner, who loved the outdoors, his favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching Nascar, and UFC Fights.  He was also a people person, who had many friends, and he loved family get-togethers, where he could sit and reminisce about his younger years growing up in Isaban.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 20 years: Kathy (Stacy) Laney; son: Richard (Ashley) Laney; daughter: Heather (Glen) Poe; step-sons: Richie (Beth) Ruiz; Jose (Wendy) Ruiz, Robbie (Jessica) Ruiz; granddaughters; Kacey and Tayler Poe; grandsons: Cooper Poe, Peyton Laney; step-grandchildren: Isabella, Joel, Alexis, Savannah, and Colton Ruiz, Shyanna and Cody Adkinson; sister: Althea (Michael) Chappelear; brother: Billy Hugh (Connie) Laney; special nephew: Chris Laney; very close lifelong friend: Ronald Cline.  He also leaves behind a host of other nieces, nephews and a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday March 23, 2021 from 12:00 till 2:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jim Nagy and Deacon Donnie Stacy officiating.  Burial will follow in the West Cemetery at Rock House section of Hanover, WV.

Eric will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
