Fannie Angela "Angie" (Browning) Canterbury

Fannie Angela Canterbury, better known as “Angie” of Salt Rock, WV formerly of Wharncliffe, WV passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.  Angie fought a hard battle against small cell lung cancer, but she is now at peace.

Born July 12, 1973 in Man, WV she was the daughter of Joda “Bud” Browning and the late Wilma Faye (Paynter) Browning.

In addition to her mother, she is also preceded in death by her daughter: Chyna Ellis; brothers: Jody and Buddy Browning.

Angie was a graduate of Gilbert High School.  She worked as a CNA for some time but was mainly a stay-at-home mother.  Although she was not a member of a church, she did get saved during her hospital stay and kept her Faith in the Lord until she passed away.  Angie enjoyed helping animals, listening to music, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her husband of 12 years, together for 13 total: David Canterbury Jr. of Salt Rock, WV; her father: Joda “Bud” Browning; children: Amber (Jacob) Justice, all of Louisa, KY, Gavin Canterbury of Salt Rock, WV; siblings: Darin (Angie) Browning of Wharncliffe, WV, Kevin (Tina) Dockstader of Princeton, WV; nieces and nephews: Bradley (Emogene) Browning, Renae Browning, Aiden, Hayden, Cheyann, Daryonna Browning, Megan and Tyler Dockstader, Austin Runyon, Colby Marcum, Alexander (Cheyanne) Hall, Hank, Jordan, and Kaitlyn Canterbury, Mason Nickles, Lainey Hinkle, Vanessa Rhodes, Krista Dotson; mother-in-law: Lotus Canterbury of Salt Rock, WV; fathers-in-law: David Cook of Salt Rock, WV, and David Canterbury of Taylorville, WV; sister-in-law: Grace (Matt) Johnson of Taylorville, WV, Mark (Genevea) Canterbury of Matewan, WV. She also leaves behind a host of other special friends and family members.

Friends may gather with the family Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 12:00 till 2:00 pm at the Faith Church of God, Wharncliffe, WV, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Pastor Danny Ward officiating.  Burial will follow in the Browning Family Cemetery at Wharncliffe, WV.

Angie will be carried to her resting place by Jacob Justice, Mark, Hank, Gavin and David Canterbury, Jr., Bradley Browning, Alexander Hall.

The family gives a special thanks to Kimberly Shirley for being there for Angie during her hospitalization.

Angie will be remembered for her love and compassion, and for always trying to make people smile.  To know her was to love her.
