Forney Shrewsbury Obituary

Forney Shrewsbury, 73 of Justice, went to be the Lord on Saturday, July 25th, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 5, 1947 in Raleigh County.  He was the son of the late Lawrence and Irene (Grisso) Shrewsbury.  He was a born-again Christian.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded I death by two brothers: Clayton “Buddy” White and Norman Shrewsbury; sisters: Irene “Tempie” Pusloskie and Ruby White.

Forney was a proud Veteran, who served in Vietnam in 1967 to 1968.  He was a member of the VFW in Iaeger, chapter # 1144, Vietnam Veterans of America and the UMWA.  He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandpa (Mr. Boo).

Those left to love and cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years: Gwen Shrewsbury; daughters: Cheryl (Wayne) Smith of Coal City and Heather (Brandon) Thompson; granddaughter: Alexis Smith; brothers; Roby Shrewsbury of Justice, Randy (Dreama) Shrewsbury of Jonben, WV; sisters: Dorothy Parrish and Lorrie  Ortiz, both of California; his very special second mother: Emily Deboard; best friends: Scott Stacy, Dennis Deboard and Duranny Walls.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and his furbabies.

Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 12 to 2:00 pm at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Rev. Charles Timer May officiating. 

Entombment will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.  Military services will be provided by Iaeger VFW, Chapter # 1144.  

Forney will be carried to his final burial place by Brandon and Dwayne Deboard, Dale Fitzpatrick, Danny Hatfield, Wayne Smith, and Brandon Thompson.  Honorary pallbearers are: Dale Fitzpatrick, Sr, Vaughn Queen, Dennis Deboard, David Ward, Jerry Bledsoe, Jerry Rose, Scott Stacy and Duranny Walls.

The family would like to thank Dignity Hospice, for the compassion and love they showed us in the last days.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
