Franklin Hatfield Obituary

Franklin Freddie Hatfield, 70, of Spice Creek Rd., Gilbert, WV, went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2022, from Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV.

Born on June 2, 1951, at Guyan, WV. in Wyoming County, he was the son of the late Onnie and Maggie (Morgan) Hatfield.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Margaret Hatfield; one son: Paul Hatfield; six brothers: Freeman Lee, Raymond, Jessie, Homer, Ewing, and Lonnie Hatfield; nine sisters: Allie Hanshaw, Ocie Fugate, Shelvia (Ann) Lester, Lucille Debono, Vertie Browning, Ruthie, Sissie, Georgie and Mary Hatfield.

 Freddie was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother, and a man of God. He was a disabled coal miner. He loved sitting on the porch, gardening with his “green thumb” and he loved to dig ginseng and he loved to deer hunt.  He was a lifelong member of the Christian Freewill Baptist Church. Freddie would do anything for anyone and was fiercely loyal to his family and those he loved. He could fix anything. His grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to him. He loved them the “most-est”.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are one daughter: Kimberly (Gregory) Cline of Spice Creek; one son: Mark (Camy) Hatfield of Beckley, WV; one granddaughter: Angie (Chad) Damron of Kermit, WV. one grandson: Zack (Chelsea) Hatfield of Hanover; six great grandchildren: Bryson, Roxie, Honey Brooke, Brennen, Kreeden and Silas; one brother: Roger Hatfield; one sister: Vonnie Walls; and a host of nieces, nephews and other dear friends and relatives.

Friends may gather with the family on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 6:00 till 9:00 pm at the Christian Freewill Baptist Church at Christian, WV with special services starting at 7:00 pm with Rev. Jackie Jessie and Rev. Mike Johnson.  Funeral services will commence at the church at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 9, 2022 with Rev. Jackie Jessie and Rev. Mike Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at the Skyline Cemetery in Justice WV.

Freddie will be carried to his place of rest by pallbearers: Corey Robinette, Dustin Bobbitt, Randy Layne, Daniel Cline, Daniel Morgan, Chad Roberts, Salzer Lester and Scott Mounts; honorary pallbearers: Glenn Altizer, David Browning, Darren Browning, Romeo Bautista, Roger Robinette, Elias Damron, Ronnie Stiltner, Kenny Roberts, J.R. Lester, and Roy Messer.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
