Freddie Jay "Butch" Cline

Freddie Jay “Butch” Cline, 77, of Hanover, WV went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday May 29th, 2022 from Knoxville Select Specialty Hospital, Powell, TN. 

Born on January 28, 1945 at Welch, WV, he was the son of the late Jay R. Cline and Jacquetta (Estepp) Cline. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter: Monique Faith Cline May; one son: Freddie Jay Cline II; two grandsons: Roger Todd Hatfield and Gregory Neil “Whitey” May; son-in-law: Douglas Eddie Chapman; brother-in-law: Melvin Fred Browning; sister-in-law: Brenda Gent; and one niece: Angela Hope Browning. 

Butch was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and friend.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Butch was in the trucking business for 44 years of his life.  When he had free time on the weekends he was on the lake in Tennessee, and he loved having his family with him.  So many memories were made.  He loved dirt track racing and watching those cars and enjoyed motorcycle riding from a very young age.  He was a big fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt was his favorite.  He had a very special cat named Black Boy and a dog named Peppy he loved very much. 

His loved ones left to mourn his loss are his wife of 60 years: Kathy Cline; two daughters: Cynthia Ann Cline and Svetlana “Sam” Chapman; four grandchildren: Amanda Hatfield, Josh Chapman, Sarah Chapman, and Tristian (Kyle) Layne; eight great grandchildren; one sister: Pricilla Browning; one brother: Randy (Sherry) Cline, a nephew: Brandon Cline; two nieces: Jacquetta (Mike) Sheppard and Natasha (Luther) Mounts; and two special friends he considered brothers: Jimmy Tiller and David Endicott. 

Friends may gather with the family Friday, June 3, 2022 from 12 – 2 PM at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 2 PM with the Rev. Mark Townsend officiating.  Burial will follow at Justice Memorial Gardens, Justice, WV. 

Butch will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends.
