Gary Kim Fortner, 57, of Holton, Kansas, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022.
Gary was born on July 22, 1964 to Jesse and Phyllis Fortner in Iaeger, West Virginia.
Gary loved dogs, horses, motorcycles and old muscle cars. He was in the process of fixing up a 1977 Firebird, that was identical to his car he had when he was a teenager. Gary worked most of his life in construction, framing houses. He and his father even ran their own framing company for several years.
Gary was preceded in death by his father Jesse Fortner, sister Sherry Fortner, grandparents Elmer and Audrey Cline, and Jesse and Hazel Fortner.
At the time of his passing, Gary was survived by his mother, Phyllis Fortner, sister Krystal (Tate) Maxwell, his nephews and niece Jack, Arlo, and Riley Maxwell all of Holton, Kansas.

Visitation will be held at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kansas on Wednesday, July 13, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The family will also hold a joint Visitation and Funeral at Mounts Funeral Home, 253 4th Avenue, Gilbert, West Virginia on Saturday, July 16 for Gary and his mother, Phyllis Fortner, who has since also passed. Visitation will begin at 12 noon and Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jamie Fortner officiating. Burial will follow at Hatfield Cemetery, Sharon Heights, West Virginia.
