Gary Lee “Bub” Hatfield, 64 of Browning Fork, Gilbert, WV, departed this life Monday, June 22, 2020 at his residence.
Born March 1, 1956 at Iaeger, he was the son of the late Betty (Hatfield) and Wallie Hatfield, Jr.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Jess and Mary Hatfield; paternal grandparents: Wally and Maude Hatfield; a host of aunts, uncles and family members.
Bub enjoyed raising dogs, hunting, fishing, and riding his side by side. He loved going to church, he was usually there an hour or more early, just to have his private time with God. He could often be seen just lifting his hands and praising God, he was always asking prayer for others. Bub was a member of the Browning Fork House of Faith Church, where he always kept a bag of candy filled, to give to everyone who needed a mint, candy or whatever he had in there. He always gave the children a dollar, he was a loving and giving person with a great heart.
Those left to love and cherish the memory of Bub and to mourn his loss are his sisters: Patricia (Hatfield) Kennedy, who passed within hours after Bub’s death, and Tammy (Clayton) Riffe of Hanover; brothers: Douglas Wally (Cynthia) Hatfield, Homer Glen (Jan Lester) Hatfield, Donald Lane “Bimbo” Hatfield, all of Browning Fork and Larry Randall (Lolita) Hatfield of Mohawk; uncle: Arnold Hatfield of Browning Fork. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Friday, June 26, 2020 from 12 till 2:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with his Pastor Diamond Carter and Rev. Lowell Smith officiating.
To honor his wishes, Bub will be cremated after services and his remains will be buried with his parents at the Carter Cemetery at Browning Fork, Gilbert, WV.
His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
