George M. Bowens, Sr.

George M. Bowens, Sr., 69 of Mallory, departed this life Monday, December 16, 2022 from Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Born on February 20, 1953, he was the son of the late Robert and Kathern (Cochran) Bowens.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son: George Michael Bowens, Jr; his wife: Gladys Faye Bowens; sister: Iras Irene Ball; brother-in-law: Woody Murphy; nephews: Matthew and Jamie Bobby Church, and Robert Lee Bowens, Jr.

George enjoyed working on vehicles, riding his ATV, and spending time with his family and friends.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his daughters: Kristy (Adam Lester) Hatfield of Mallory, WV and Sabrina (Teddy) Cline of Gilbert, WV; son: Heath (Karen) Cline of TN; grandsons: Tyler Cline of TN, and Branden (Jennifer Garn) Cline of TN; brother: Robert (Tammy) Bowens of Davin, WV; Sisters: Chassie (Loren) Blankenship of VA and Nancy Murphy of Delbarton, WV; special nieces: April Maynor of Man, WV, Deborah Jene Shiflett of VA, Kathern Murphy of Chapmanville, WV, and Kathern “Nina” Bowens of Coal Mtn, WV.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 12:00 till 1:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Walter Hawkins and Rev. Larry and Patty Morgan officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville, WV.

George will be carried to his resting place by Adam Lester, Jr., Michael Lehman, William Denny, and William Michael Paugh, Brandon and Dustin Maynor, Heath and Brandon Cline, and Arthur Collins.

He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
