Geraldine (McCoy) Blankenship, 65 of Baisden, WV departed this life on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Pikeville Medical Center, in Pikeville KY. Born February 6, 1959, in Grundy, VA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Betty McCoy.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her grandparents, Emory and Ella McCoy, and Melda Whitt.
Geraldine was a member of the Old Regular Baptist church for 35 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies that she was so proud of. She was a homemaker and known for her good cooking, crafting, sewing, and big heart. Geraldine had a glowing personality that could brighten a room.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 45 years, Iven Blankenship; daughter: Jessica (Brock) Whitt of Princeton; son: Jason Blankenship, of Baisden; grandchildren: Chelsey Faith Whitt, Carly Maxine Whitt, Isaiah Brock Whitt, and Daisy Juliet Blankenship. Geraldine also thought of Scarlett Aurora Vider, and Levi Kai Boyd as grandchildren; brother: Addison McCoy; and sister; Carolyn (Lloyd Walter) Justus; special friend of the family: Jerry (Happy) Blankenship. She also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Family and friends may gather at Old Sulphur Springs church in Hurley, VA on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 after 6:00 pm with special services at 7 pm. Funeral services will commence there at the church on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 12:00 PM, with Brother George Baker, Brother Steve Baker, and Brother Hobart Hamilton, Brother Josh Junior Justice, Brother Freddie Cline, and Brother Danny Hurley officiating. Burial will follow at Baisden, WV.
Geraldine will be carried to her resting place by family and friends.
Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
