Harvey Shannon Harrison, Jr.

Born on October 19, 1948 to the late Bernice and Harvey Harrison. 

He went home on August 28, 2024 peacefully surrounded by his family in Sanford, NC. 

Harvey graduated from Gilbert HIgh School in 1966 and went on to work 27 years and retire from the coal mining industry. 

He was the beloved husband of Trina who he married on September 12, 1998 at Crossroads Church, where they both attended.

He received the greatest honor of being the best father and grandpa by his loving family. He  enjoyed listening and playing music and tinkering on old cars. He was always a person you could count on and didn't hesitate to help anyone in need.

Those left to cherish memories of Harvey are his wife, Trina, three children Anna Matney (Lum) of Fremont, Ohio, JD Harrison (Maegan) of Johnson City, TN and Harvey Shannon Harrison III (Kim) of Sanford, NC; sister Shirley Gibson Holmes (Frank) of Fort Valley, GA; stepdaughter, Tessa (Mike) of Hickory, NC.  Harvey loved his nine grandchildren: Dawson Hicks, Mya Wilson, McKenna Brown, Kay Rodriguez, Wesley Wilson Jr., Justin Harrison, Sydney Harrison, Caitlin Kaveny and Carter Harrison. 

In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by a host of brothers and sisters and step-daughter Amy Farmer.

Though we mourn your loss, we also celebrate the incredible life you lived. We remember the countless memories we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the love we felt. Your spirit will forever be a part of us, guiding us through life's challenges and reminding us to cherish every moment.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral with Pastor John Sauls, III officiating.  Burial will follow Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Harrison-Earls Family Cemetery in Pounding Mill, VA.
