Hazel Darlene “Mama” Conn, 68 of Long Branch section of Simon, departed this life Saturday, July 2, 2022 from Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born January 6, 1954 at Iaeger, WV she was the daughter of the late John and Cora (Blankenship) Freeman.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son: Brandon Conn; daughter: Shannon Keneda; brothers: Burns “Brownie” and Gibb Osborne, Kenny, Bob, and Randall Harper, Rev. Firg Profitt, Richard Freeman; sisters: Frankie Hatfield, Corine Thompson, Goldie Baker, Essie Chaffin, Ethel Kelley, Ruth Gardner, and Betty Pietrantozzi; two special sisters-in-law: Eleanor Osborne and Texanna Bailey; brother-in-law: Delno Conn.

Hazel enjoyed shopping, collecting “red truck” items, and jewelry, she loved going to the beach, and anything to do with Lighthouses.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and all the “adopted grandchildren” that she collected as her own, on her journeys through life. She was "Mama Conn" to so many.

Those left to love and cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years: Joseph “Joe Be” Conn of Simon; her daughters: Analeah Conn (JT) of Salisbury, NC, Sabrina Geter of Spencer, NC, Valerie Pennybaker (Ricky) of Iaeger; grandchildren: Tiarra Geter (Mari) of Durham, NC, Isaac Keneda of Simon, Shaleah Conn of Durham, NC, Kayla Craven of Salisbury, NC, Isabella Keneda of Simon, Autumn Conn of Salisbury, NC, Daniel, Sarah, and Sam Pennybaker, all of Ohio; sisters: Wilma Cline of Lynco, Thelma (Richard) Massey of Oceana, Audrey Byrd of Bluefield; brother: Wayne Neal of Mullins.  Hazel also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Thursday, July 7, 2022 after 6:00 pm at the Long Branch Freewill Baptist Church, where funeral service will commence there on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Landon Blankenship officiating.

To honor her request, she will be cremated following services.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her, for her laughter was contagious, she enjoyed life, and she lived it to the fullest.
