On June 23, 2023, Helen Jean Layne of Baisden, WV got her Wings and went to walk with the Angels. Born February 25, 1934, she was 89 years old.
Our mother was born in Buckhannon County, VA. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and traveling, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mother was of the Church of God Faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Floyd and Ida (Matney) Layne; two precious sons: Marty and Darnell Blankenship; daughter-in-law: Brenda Layne; brothers: Sanford, Izra, and Johnny Layne; sisters: Ethel and Amanda Cline, Molly Bailey, Pauline Cline, and Ana Mae Moore.
Those left to grieve the loss of such a precious and kind soul are her sons: Randy Layne, Ricky (Barbara) Blankenship, David (Debbie) Blankenship, Tyrone Layne, all of Baisden, WV; daughters: Diana (George) Hatfield of Browning Fork, WV and Sherry (Rickey) Riffe of Hanover, WV; sister: Toby Matthews of Florida; grandchildren: Randy Jr. (Chasity) Layne, Brandon (Samantha) Layne, Braden (Destiny Bryant) Layne, Courtney (Weston) Fortner, Misty (Todd) Toler, David Lee, Natasha, Ashley, Sabrina, Shannon, Summer, and Chasity Blankenship, Heather (John McNeely) Lyons, Kaleb (Misty Collins) Hatfield, Brittany (Lonnie) Baker, Jeremy (Vonya) May, and Ethan May; great grandchildren: Wil and Blake Lyons, Matthew, Chaston, Ryan, Savannah and Brantley Layne, Emilee Blankenship, Braxton Miller, Jacob Hatfield, Tucker and Everlee Fortner, Andrew (Andy) May and Jorden Cline.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6:00 till 9:00 pm, with special service beginning at 7:00 pm at the Full Gospel Church of God, Baisden, WV. Funeral services will commence there at the church on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jonas (Joe Peck) Trent, Rev. Marvin Joe Bradford and Bro. Learmon Mounts officiating. Burial will follow in the Cline Cemetery, Baisden, WV.
Mother will be carried to her resting place by her loving family: Randy Layne, Jr., David Lee Blankenship, Todd Toler, Kaleb Hatfield, Braden, Brandon, and Tyrone Layne, Ethan and Jeremy May, Wil and Blake Lyons, Weston Fortner, and Jorden Cline.
Mother was a light to everyone who knew her. There was never a more kind, passionate, and gentle soul. Until we meet again, you will forever rest in our hearts.
