Helen M. Lester, 82 of Verner, departed this life Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born September 15, 1937 at Emmett, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Nava (Toler) Vance.
In addition to her parents, Helen is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years: Buel Preston Lester, Sr.; son: Buel Preston Lester, Jr.; grandson: Alex Morgan; brothers: Lonnie, Jerry, and Teddy Vance.
Helen was a member of the Christian Freewill Baptist Church, where she loved attending and spending time with her church family. She enjoyed watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, also traveling to Tennessee with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. In earlier years Helen loved working with her flowers.
Those left to love and cherish her memory and to mourn her loss are her daughters: Lori (Romeo) Bautista of Verner, Sheilah (David) Browning of Iaeger, Evelyn (A. Earl) Brewer of Prosperity; grandchildren: Allison Harper, Chrystal Dickens, Preston Brewer; great grandchildren: Chasity Layne, Keisha Carter, Alyssa Walls, Grayden Brewer; great-great grandchildren: Chaston and Ryan Layne; several step great grandchildren; sisters: Linda of Ohio, Judy, Carol, and Rosemary, all of Michigan; brothers: Eddie (Beulah) Vance of New Richmond, Tommy (Linda) Vance of Hinton, Samuel Vance of Indian Creek, Jimmy Vance of New Richmond, Johnny Vance of South Carolina. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Christian Freewill Baptist Church after 6:00 pm, with special service at 7:00 pm with Rev. Roger Browning officiating. Funeral services will commence there at the church Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Jackie Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in the Skyline Cemetery at Justice, WV.
Helen will be carried to her resting place by family and friends.
Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
