Helen Marie (Vance) McGarvey

Helen Marie McGarvey 76, of Man, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 25, 2025, from Logan Regional Medical Center after a short illness.  
 
Born October 25, 1948, at Man Hospital. She is the daughter of the late Homer and Sarah (Dempsey) Vance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Earl McGarvey; five sisters: Phyllis Elswick, Linda Short, Betty Whitman, infant twins: Katherine Sue & Onna Faye; two brothers: Homer (Fat Jr.) Vance and Johnny Vance; two daughters: Carol Adkins and infant Diane; one granddaughter: Jessica Adkins.  
 
Helen loved playing bingo and playing different kinds of card games. She also loved shopping at Walmart and spending all the time she could with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as her teacup yorkie Gizmo.  
 
Those left to cherish and carry on her memory are three daughters: Melissa Burns, Sheila (Walter) Rakes and Sandy Adkins; companion: Kenneth Brown; grandchildren: Brandon (Kim) Adkins, Steve (Connie) Adkins, Brandie Adkins, Sandra Adkins, Kayla Brown, Sarah (Henry) Vance, Matthew (Angel) Burns, Ronnie McGarvey and his companion BJ Gibson, and April McGarvey; great grandchildren: Jacob McGarvey, Gabriel Burns, Alex Adkins, Madelene Adkins, Curkland Bailey, Dakota Adkins, Jaden Adkins, Landen Adkins, Hunter Adkins, Rylee Adkins, Alexandria Ratliff, Isabella Ratliff and Gracie Taber; one special niece whom helped care for her Angel Watts; brothers: Billy (Margaret) Vance, Jimmy (Kim) Vance, Ricky Vance; sister: Christina Samson.  
 
Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. till 3:00 p.m. at Bright Star Freewill Baptist Church for visitation with funeral services to commence at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating.
