Jackson “Jack” Grimmett, 75 of Gilbert, went to his heavenly home on January 15, 2023 from St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Born on April 4, 1947 he was the son of the late Sanford “Sam” and Lilly Mae (Yeager) Grimmett.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his late wife Viola (Stevens) Grimmett; his maternal grandparents: Edna and Joseph Yeager; sister: Sandra Grimmett; brother: Walter “Buddy” Grimmett.
Jack was a legendary truck driver for most of his life. He was known by the nickname “Waterdog”. Everyone that knew him loved him. He was a member of the justice Church of God. He loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. Jack also loved to coon hunt, camp with his family, go fishing, and four-wheel riding.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his sons: Freddie (Emma) Grimmett of Gilbert, Phillip (Rachael) Stevens of Parkersburg; his daughters: Sandra (Richard) Deer, Sheila (Mark) Blankenship, Samantha (Brandon) Layne, all of North Spring; sisters: Shirley (Rev. Bill Odell) Cresong, Joan Thompson, Gail (John) Cline, and Audrey Gilpin; brother: Timmy Wiley; grandchildren: Jay (Ali) Grimmett, Ashley Grimmett, Josh (Bork) Grimmett, Desiree (Brandon) Bailey, Richard-Bubba (Cathlean) Deer, Destiny Deer, Savannah and Brantley Layne, Jasmine (Cody) Gibson, Jacob and Jordan Blankenship, Jeremiah, Britton, Phillip Jr., Calvin, Braden and Maverick Stevens; 16 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives, friends, and acquaintances.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 6:00 till 9:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bill Cresong officiating. Burial will follow in the Grimmett Family Cemetery at the Stafford Branch section of Gilbert, WV.
Jack will be carried to his resting place by pallbearers: Jay and Josh Grimmett, Jordan Blankenship, and Richard Deer, Jr.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
