James Trent Obituary

James Edward Trent, 78, of Bruno, WV departed this life Thursday, April 8, 2021 from Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born on June 12, 1942 at Bruno, WV he was the son of the late Gerald and Nellie (Harris) Trent.

James was a member of the Bruno Church of God for 46 + years and was known for his love of singing and guitar playing.  He was a member of the Ohio National Guard and a member of the U.M.W.A.

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years: Norma (Toler) Trent of Bruno; 3 daughters: Donna Kearns of Kernersville, NC., Cathy (Chris) Stevens of Verner, WV., Debbie (Greg) Ridgeway of Denver, NC; 2 sons: Jimmy (Shannon) Trent of Lincolnton, NC., and Tad (Andrea) Bailey of Madison, WV; 11 grandchildren: Patrick (Sarah) Trent of Christian, WV., Cyndi (James) Blankenship of Gilbert, WV., Trish McClure of Wharncliffe, WV., Sarah (Jacob) Hinkle of Verner, WV., Will (Amber) Stevens of Swords Creek, VA., Stephanie Brewer of Verner, WV., Hannah Kearns of Kernersville, NC., Haley (Stephen) Widenhouse of Mt. Pleasant, NC; Wade Kearns of Kernersville, NC., Ricky Beth and Hayden Bailey of Madison, WV; 19 great grandchildren; 1 special uncle: James C. Trent of Bruno, WV.  He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Monday, April 12, 2021 from 12:00 till 1:00 pm at the Bruno Church of God where funeral services will commence at 1:00 pm with Rev. Roger Frye and Rev. Gary Wilson officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 11:00 am.

James walked with God.  He wouldn’t want you to mourn your loss, but to celebrate his gain.  He spent the better part of his life preparing for his departure and would want you to remember his smile, his laugh, and all-around good nature.

We will forever remember his kind, gentle spirit expressed not only to his family, but anyone he met.

“And I thank God for the Lighthouse, I owe my life to him, for Jesus is the Lighthouse, and from the rocks of sin, he has shown his light around me, that I might clearly see, that if it wasn’t for the Lighthouse, tell me where would this ship be?”
