James D. Ferrell, Jr., 58 of Gilbert, departed this life Thursday, June 11, 2020 from Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born February 8, 1962 in Daytona, Florida, he was the son of the late James (J.D.) Ferrell, Sr., and Linda Lee (Ganta) Ferrell.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his infant son: Aaron Mathers Ferrell.
James loved to spend time with his grandchildren, his family, and friends. He was an avid bowler and fisherman. James was a cross county trucker for a large portion of his life, until he decided to haul coal. James served his country as an Air Force Veteran. He earned a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, and Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his loving wife of 32 years: LaRae Ferrell of the home; his son: James D. Ferrell III (D.J.) his wife, Vicki, their son, Alijah, all of Davin; daughter: Laura Ferrell (Aaron Rodgers) of Gilbert Creek; brothers: Jonathan (Chrissy) Ferrell of Verner, Joseph (Bonnie) Ferrell of Ocala, FL; sister: Louanne Ferrell of Roanoke, VA; nephews: Joseph, David, Blake and Tyler Ferrell. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, June 15, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence at 2:00 pm with Rev. David Browning officiating.
To honor his wishes, he will be cremated after services.
Military services will be provided by the D.A.V. post # 141 Belfry, KY.
