James “Joe” Edward Hicks, 57 of Lorado, WV, departed this life February 3, 2026, from Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Born February 23, 1968, he was the son of the late James Richard “Ricky” Hicks and Brenda Sue (Wingler) Hicks.
Joe loved the great game of football. He loved to reminisce about his high school football career. He loved to fish, hunt and dig roots. He loved to play guitar with his son, Cameron. He was obsessed with pizza, fruity pebbles, and Neapolitan ice cream. He loved his children fiercely and never met a stranger. He loved to give freely with no expectations of anything in return. He had the biggest sense of humor and was a fierce protector of his loved ones.
Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife: Bobbie Jane Hicks; his children: Tiffany (Joe) Bocchino, Cameron Hicks, Joseph Hicks, Kaila Clay, Bek Osborne, Vance McDaniels and Jessica McDaniels; grandchildren: Kyson Hicks, Jacen Chapman, Sawyer Chapman, Coalton Osborne, Laci Osborne and Veyda McDaniels; sister: Debra (Phillip Lester) Goodman. Joe also leaves behind an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and other loved ones.
His contagious laugh, big bright smile, giving heart and loyal spirit will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
As per his request, Joe will be cremated.
Mounts Funeral Home, Inc., of Gilbert, WV has been entrusted with Joe’s final wishes.
