James Daniel (J.D.) Ferrell, Sr., departed this life Saturday, February 1, 2020 at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV.
Born on October 24, 1939 at Freeburn, Ky., he was the son of the late Humphrey and Lula (Trent) Ferrell.
In addition to his parents, J.D. was also preceded in death by his wife: Linda Lee (Ganta) Ferrell; grandson: Aaron Mathers Ferrell; brothers: Harry, Humphrey Lee, Jack and David Ferrell; sister: Lena Mae Runyon.
J.D. loved playing musical instruments and deep-sea fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his sons: James (LaRae) Ferrell, Jr., of Gilbert, Jonathan (Chrissy) Ferrell, with whom he made his home at Verner, Joseph (Bonnie) Ferrell of Ocala, FL; daughter: Louanne Ferrell of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren: James DJ (Vicky) Ferrell III, Joseph Allen, David (Audrey), Laura Brooke Anne (Mikey Rogers) Ferrell, Jonathan Blake and Tyler Brayden Ferrell; great-grandchildren: Ian Clark Ferrell, Aaron Elias Rogers and Alijah Everett Hamilton; brother: Danny (Sherry) Ferrell of Thomasville, NC; sisters: Joyce Browning of Davin, Kitty Faye Lee of Beckley, Margie (Ray) Brown of Parkersburg and Carol Hatfield of Thomasville, NC. He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 2 to 3:00 pm at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where a memorial service will commence at 3:00 pm with Rev. Diamond Carter officiating.
To honor his wishes, his remains were cremated.
He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
