Jerry Neil Grimmett, 73 of Hampden, WV departed this life Sunday, June 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, from his residence.
Born July 24, 1950, at Hampden, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Ferble Athelene (Hatfield) Grimmett.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his infant daughter: Kathy Lynette Grimmett; brother: Tommie Grimmett; sisters-in-law: Regina Toler Wooten and Judy Diane King; brother-in-law: Ronald Toler.
Jerry was Fire Chief of the Gilbert Fire Department for 35 years. He was a Member of the Hanover Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed flying, and his favorite channel to watch was the Fox Channel.
Jerry had worked a few years for Hampden Coal, he was an excellent, well-known mechanic in the area, who went on to be the Service Manager at Cline Ford Sales, he was loved by everyone who had contact with him. He loved his dogs; especially the one that stayed on his lap-CeCe.
Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 53 years: Barbara Faye (Toler) Grimmett of Hampden; daughter: Christa Gayle (Steve) Kovach of Omar; son: Jonathan (Lydia) Grimmett of Wisconsin; grandchildren: Katelyn Grimmett of Hampden, Preston L. Kovach of Omar, Lisa A. Kovach of Huntington, Christopher Davies and Hunter Davies, Aidan J. Grimmett, and Elizabeth A. Grimmett, all of Georgia; great grandsons: Coen N. Lee of Hampden, Jason and Avery Davies, both of Georgia; sister: Pamela (Mark) Cline of Myrtle Beach; brother: Donnie (Sandy) Grimmett of South Point, Ohio. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear relatives and friends.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 6:00 till 9:00 pm in the chapel of Mounts Funeral Home where funeral services will commence on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 12:00 pm with Pastor Jackie Lester officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Chapmanville, WV.
Jerry will be carried to his resting place by members of the Gilbert Fire Department.
His wonderful smile and gentle, caring heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
