Jerry Lee Ellis

Jerry Lee Ellis, 82 of Wharncliffe, departed this life Saturday, August 5, 2023 from his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 28, 1940 in Glen Alum, WV, he was the son of the late Leck and Sadie (Browning) Ellis.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers: Cody and Morris Ellis.

Jerry enjoyed fishing and spending family time together with his loved ones.  He was a member of the Ben Creek Free Pentecostal Holiness Church, and he was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Those left to love and cherish his memory and to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 52 years: Helen (Cline) Ellis; his daughter: Tina (Brian) Abbott; son: Jerry Dwayne (Vickie) Ellis; granddaughter: Jessica (Jeff) Dingess, all of Wharncliffe, WV; sisters: Mary Lou Workman of Hinton, WV, Linda Kay Mays, Lois “Sissy” Coleman, and Dreama Jamerson, all of Appomattox, VA; brothers: Carl Ellis of Varney, WV, Sonny Ellis of SC, Daniel “Grady” Ellis of Appomattox, VA, Benny “Pedro” Ellis of Wharncliffe, WV, Tom Ellis of South Williamson, KY; the family gives a special appreciation of thanks to his caregivers during his journey: Vickie Ellis, Robin Sexton, and Betty Colangelo.  He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Friends may gather with the family Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Mounts Funeral Home, Gilbert, WV where service will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Denny May officiating.

Military Honors will be given by the VFW Post 1144 of Iaeger, WV following service.

To honor Jerry’s request, he will be cremated.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
