Jerry Lee Ellis, better known as Red Ellis, departed this life on Saturday, December 3, 2022.
He was born on October 27, 1943 to the late Henry & Lona Ellis.
In addition to his parents, Red was also preceded in death by his daughter: Wanda Hurley; sons: Johnny & Henry Keith Ellis; and his siblings: Clifford Ike Ellis & Louise Brown.
Red was one of a kind. He had a nickname for everyone he knew and loved his family almost as much as he loved his animals. He always had a friendly smile & helping hand to give to everyone he met. He always looked forward to going rifle hunting with the boys. You could usually find him with 1 or 2 of his grandbabies, sitting on the porch drinking his coffee or at the barn feeding his cattle. He was a retired coalminer of 43 years & loved to tell stories about his time spent underground. Red was the type of person you just don’t forget. He will definitely be missed by all who known and loved him.
Those left to mourn his loss are his sons: Jerry (Carol) Ellis, Kevin Ellis, & Gregory Daniels all of Wharncliffe; Daughter: Carolyn Daniels & her companion Charles Perry of Jeffery WV; Grandchildren: Lee (Kayla) Ellis, Shayla Stanley, Landon & Logan Daniels, Andrea Grimmett, Anniston & Anderson Perry, Nicholas Hurley, and Bryson & Kayson Ellis; Siblings: Bertha (Ralph) Hatfield of Wirt County WV, Judy (Walter) Akers of Varney WV, and Dick & Ramond (Barbara) Ellis both of Wharncliffe; and a host of nieces & nephews, and family & friends.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel where funeral services will commence on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Rick Endicott and Rev. Danny Ward will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Beech Fork Cemetery at Wharncliffe, WV.
Red will be carried to his final resting place by family & friends without hesitation.
