Johnny Blankenship

Johnny Blankenship, 74, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2025, from his residence.

Born August 4, 1951, Johnny was the son of late Lydia and Rufus Blankenship he was also preceded in death by his brother Roy Blankenship.  

Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved going to church serving the lord; he loved lending a helping hand to anyone. He also enjoyed doing his search word puzzles, making his homemade soap, "lol soup" for everyone, and loved telling his coal mining stories. He never met a stranger, everyone that met him I’m sure will remember him with his contagious laugh and his smile that would brighten up the room. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Annetta Blankenship of Justice, WV; son: Mark (Shelia) Blankenship of North Spring, WV; daughter: Melissa (Doyle) Richards of Slabtown, WV; adopted daughter: Sierra (Keith) Collins of Slabtown, WV; brothers: Omer (Sharon) Blankenship of Justice, WV, Ray “Cooney” (Carolyn) Blankenship of Gilbert Creek, WV, Jerry Blankenship and Jackie (Dalena Jo) Blankenship of all of Mudlick, WV, Glen (Carolyn) Blankenship of Charleton, WV; sister: Idema Burgess of Charleston, WV; grandchildren: Jasmine (Cody) Gibson, Jacob Blankenship, Jordan (Brianna) Blankenship, Jonathan Richards, Payton Richards, and  one expected grandchild; great-grandchildren: Meah Clemens, Lacey Gibson, Leah Gibson, Kaden Blankenship, Avery Collins.  He also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends. 

Friends may gather with the family at the Freedom Full Gospel Assembly House of Prayer, Horsepen, WV on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will commence the following day, Thursday, December 18, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Carl "Cab” Wolford and Rev. Timmy Cline officiating.  Burial will follow at Blankenship Family Cemetery at Mud Lick, Baisden, WV.  

Johnny will be carried to his resting place by his family and friends.

His wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved him.
