Johnny Ronald Conner Sr.

Johnny Ronald Conner Sr., 74, of Ikes Fork, WV went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2022 from Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY.

Born May 6, 1947 at Ikes Fork, he was the son of the late Willie and Dorothy (Hess) Conner.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant daughter: Penny Hope Conner; maternal grandparents: Bill and Lucy Hess; paternal grandparents: Mark and Minnie Conner; granddaughter: Mariah Lechner; sister: Mildred Hunt; mother and father-in-law: Judy and Craig Bailey; and a special aunt and uncle: Auldie and Myrtle Riffe.

Johnny was a member of the Ikes Fork Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the UMWA. He loved working, going to church, fishing when he was able, and sitting on the porch. He was the unofficial mayor of the “Ikes Fork straight stretch.”

Those left to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years: Wanda (Bailey) Conner of the home; sons: Johnny (Diane) Conner of North Carolina; Mark Conner of Maryland; daughter: Selena Musick of the home; step daughter: Denita (Shannon) Bailey of Bull Creek; 9 grandchildren: Jake Stepp, Shea and Sage Bailey, Elizabeth Lechner, Zachery, Kaila, Kristian, Kaitlyn and Colton Conner; 5 great-grandchildren; his sister: Shirley Gay Roberts of Athens, WV; special friends: Denver Lester and Zeke Hatfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving friends and family.

Friends may gather with the family Monday, May 2, 2022 from 6 to 9 PM at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel in Gilbert, WV. Funeral services will commence at 7 PM with the Rev. Homer Blankenship and Rev. Jackie Jessie officiating. To honor his wishes, his remains will be cremated.
