Karen Lynn (Lester) Justice, 74 of Hanover, WV (formerly of Isaban, WV) departed this life peacefully at home in the late evening of Saturday, April 18, 2026, surrounded by her husband David, brother Raymond, sister-in-law Leta and caregivers.
Born January 2, 1952, at North Springs, WV she was the daughter of the late Shirley and Bertha (Fuller) Lester. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents: Jayhue and Sadie Fuller, Isaac and Mary Lester; aunts, uncles, cousins, and longtime friends who we know she is so happy to be rejoicing with once again.
Karen graduated from Gilbert High School, class of 1969. After high school she pursued a career in teaching. Graduating from Marshall University class of 1974, Karen went on to make her a lifelong career of being a teacher. Teaching was her passion. Her loving, caring and compassionate personality made her perfect for being a teacher. She began teaching Hardy Union Grade School in Mingo County. Some years later, she made the transition to Gilbert Grade School to finish out her career. Throughout her career she taught Pre-K, Kindergarten and 5th grade, but ultimately the younger kids had her heart. By her retirement in 2006, she had finished up her career and went on living out her years collecting antiques with her husband, going to auctions, and her favorite of all – road tripping to the smokies.
Those left to love and cherish her memory are her husband; David Justice who was by her side until the end; brother Raymond, his wife Leta of Gilbert, WV; her girls: Kara, husband Allen of Paducah, KY; niece: Kylee of Benton, KY; goddaughter: Ashley and son Kylar of Myrtle Beach. SC; stepdaughters: JoHanna and husband Scott Blankenship of Hanover, WV and Leslie Grimmett of Oceana, WV; step grandchildren: Bell, Jake and John Caleb, all of Hanover, WV: longtime friends Billy and Connie Laney of Isaban, WV. She also leaves behind a host of other dear relatives and friends.
