Kathleen (Wimpee) Sammons

Kathleen Sammons, 89 of Gilbert, departed this life Thursday, November 5, 2020 from Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born on July 2, 1931 in Blue Ash, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (Brown) Wimpee.

In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband: Herbert Sammons; her sons: Ted Salmons and Donald Sammons; grandchildren: Chad Sammons and Kenneth Savage; sisters: Charlene Wimpee, Mary Lou Pertee; brother: Clarence Wimpee II; daughter-in-law: Marsha Sammons; son-in-law: Paul Ratliff.

Kathleen loved attending the Leatherwood Community Church where she loved to worship her Savior, and she also loved singing at church, or wherever she was, she was praising the Lord.  She enjoyed embroidering, reading Christian books and spending time with her family and friends. 

Those left to love and cherish her memory and to mourn her loss are her daughters: Lois (Bob) Swartz, Darlene (Paul) Ratliff, all of Winchester, KY, Betty Swartz of Gilbert, WV; sons: Tim (Judy) Salmons, and Ronnie (Jill) Sammons all of North Augusta, SC; daughter-in-law: Joan Salmons of Johnstown, Ohio; son-in-law: Arthur Hensley of Gilbert, WV; grandchildren: Felicia (Tom) Wachowiak of Johnstown, Ohio, Lisa (Danny) Hess of Westerville, Ohio, Tammye (Gene) Quarles of Johnston, SC, Barry Sammons of North Augusta, SC, Melissa (Bobby) Runyon of Varney, WV, Stephanie (Lawrence) White of Ragland, WV, Christy (Richard) Morrison of Front Royal, VA, Jeff (Charlesetta) Swartz, Kim Ratliff and Justin Ratliff, Josh Ratliff, Jared Sammons, all of Lexington, KY, and Chelsea Sammons of Gilbert; she also leaves behind a host of great, and great-great grandchildren, and numerous friends and family.

Friends may gather with the family Monday, November 9, 2020 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, where funeral services will commence Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Katie Endicott officiating.

Burial will follow in the Skyline Cemetery at Justice, WV.

Kathleen will be carried to her resting place by her family and friends.

Her wonderful smile and gentle heart will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known and loved her.
